Alexandra Raisman
Aly Raisman is a gold-medal-winning Olympic gymnast who has led team U.S. team to victories in 2012 and 2016. Aly has won Six Olympic medals, and two World Championships gold medals. Born in Needham, Massachusetts, Aly's passion for sports is traced to a "mommy and me" gymnastics class that she attended at the age of 18 months. Aly Raisman is a proponent for body positivity and is a leader both on and off-the-floor and spoke about Larry Nassar during his sentencing hearing. The 1994 birth of Aly Raisman was a turning point in her life. Aly Raisman started gymnastics from a young age, and also helped the U.S. gymnastics team win the 2011 World Championships. Following that she won two gold medals -- one in the team competition, and another in the single floor exercises--alongside a bronze on the beam at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Raisman took silver both in the individual and floor finals of the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Additionally, she brought home the gold medal from the gymnastics team competition. Raisman disclosed in 2017 that she was sexually abused by her former team physician Larry Nassar. The following year, she filed a lawsuit with USA Gymnastics as well as the U.S. Olympic Committee.
