Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was a Philadelphia native is a native of Philadelphia, and was raised there. Pam her mom was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. Her father offered her the position of curator of the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She along with her family moved to the iconic. In 2005 she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts as a vocal music major. Sullivan started singing as a contralto with the children's choir, then after a couple of years, she joined the adult group. Sullivan received little exposure to secular music. The singer recalls that she was singing in solos in the church, when someone offered to sign her up with a gospel label, but did not feel ready for this task. In the following year, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I had the opportunity to perform "Accept the Grace of God" in the show Showtime At the Apollo. And the crowd responded very well. She performed alongside Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year 13. Sullivan aged 15 at the time, signed her first contract with Jive Records. It was her first time signing with Jive Records in the year 15. She was the producer of an entire album. The album didn't get released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. They maintained a friendship with Missy Elliott she produced many of the tracks in her debut album like the smash single "Backstabbers" which was produced by Timbaland and composed by Elliott.
